Even the riddles are smartly written but not overly cryptic. None of the solutions are too obvious, but they’re not overly obtuse either they’re just clever enough that when I had my “voila” moments, I actually felt like I achieved something. It’s rare that a game hits the right balance between enigmatic and logical, but Tormented Souls does just that. Then there are the puzzles, most of which are really creative.

Navigating through the maze-like corridors can be a challenge, but is rewarding, especially once you have a solid grasp of the layout. Although not quite as sublime as the pre-rendered backgrounds of its inspiration, the mansion design is fairly atmospheric, and at times downright gorgeous. Graphics-wise, you’re not going to get closer to Resident Evil Remake than this. Which is exactly what I feel now after having finished the game…deflated, not fizzled….well, maybe a little fizzled. But if the plot falls flat, then the entire experience deflates and fizzles. When it comes to horror, story, at least for me, is one of the most important aspects of a game. On the other, the story and combat is so mediocre that it tarnishes what could have been an amazing experience. On the one hand, the level and puzzle design is fantastic. Tormented Souls has me feeling so conflicted. One last thing we're happy to announce is the availability of the soundtrack for purchase! You can buy this as a bundle with the game or separately so you can take the ambiance of Tormented Souls wherever you go.
